hello, this is the kabocha pumpkin.
a japanese type of winter squash that is very sweet (a combination from pumpkin and sweet potato) and soft added to your ‘nimono’ (a japanese simmered dish). it is a late summer or early autumn vegetable that i loved to eat and now try to grow in my garden. inspired by the kusama pumpkins i helped draw in my mother’s elementary school class.

about the paper
thick drawing paper with a off white colour

about oil pastels
for this work the sennelier oil pastels are used, which i love for their soft texture and bold movements. it prevents me from working to precise and dive deep into details. it keeps the work simple yet very amusing.
