Hello, I am Aline van Enckevort. Freelance illustrator and graphic designer focusing on artworks and printed matter.
I am currently working on making this website smooth to the eye and getting all the things I have made on here. currently everything is in drawers, in between books and in boxes for no one to see. and the time is now to show some of my works.
currently I am working on ‘gudrun’, my favourite imaginary friend to draw. You can find all my gudruns in ‘artworks and prints’. I made my first illustration of gudrun while travelling Japan, while listening to a book in the car during our road trip. It must be somewhere near kumamoto. I feel like a gudrun sometimes when your brain thinks of mischievous things to create some chaos. often you don’t live out these thoughts and they drift by and away, gudrun Is a way for me to capture these moments and cherish the havoc that could have been created in everyday life.
I have illustrated a lot of line portraits that are considered classic Ali’s. they started from a scrap piece of paper in my sketchbook where I had drawn a quick face of a girl, I found It back years later and started working on more of these faces. I like to follow the smooth lines when drawing hairs, sometimes more detailed, sometimes more simple.

Ideas and feelings transferred to paper. The proces of creating my illustrations is intuitive. I visually research a subject that fascinates my mind or rivets my gaze. Long lines of precision, in really enjoy drawing hair by hair. I can’t resist paper, almost any kind and every aspect of it, it’s smell, sound and touch.
